My Stories come to Life - Puppet Workshop! Instructor: Faten Toubasi Location: Arts Etobicoke Gallery Dates: Saturdays (November 14, 21, 28, December 5, 12 & 19) Time: 1pm-3pm Duration: 6 weeks Artist
/ teacher Faten Toubasi will lead a series of workshops for children 8-12 as a part
of our Saturday Storefront Art Classes November 14 – December 19, 2009. In
this 6-day workshop, children will create and perform a small puppet show, make
puppets from papier-mâché and also costumes. The classes will also
include story telling and learning to manipulate the puppets. This
workshop is inspired by Faten's recent work with Jumblies Theatre, a community arts
organization and member of Arts Etobicoke, that focuses on making art in
everyday and

Come enjoy creative fun while learning the basic skills of mixed media art. Nurture your creativity, as you begin to learn to “read” art that you see around you! In this class you will get to explore lots of different media including: drawing, painting, collage and sculpture. Learn how to use lines & colour to create a mood and use texture & shape to make a beautiful composition. We will discover how to mix colours, choose pleasing colour combinations and make small sculptures. Finally it all comes together to create vibrant mixed media art! Creative Collages

Tell your story of city and self by being a visual journalist who explores how space and place shape our experiences, behavior and identity. We will look at the local neighbourhood for inspiration and share stories with chalk drawings. We will then create personal and creative collages that explore our surroundings, community and culture using found objects, fabrics and our own photographs! A final bound zine will share the many stories we have told and messages we have created through the joy of cut and paste!
