2010 Art on the Move

The Art on the Move teams are midway though creating vehicles for Year 2. This year the project will produce five vehicles and five teams. Two vehicles have been completed thus far. First up was a sailboat belonging to the Harbourfront Community Centre. Artist Michael Brown and youth from the Harbourfront Community Centre transformed the sailboat and brightened the waters of Lake Ontario. The most recent completion was a van wrapped by Youth Without Shelter. We've finished up the art making sessions with seniors at Davenport-Perth Neighbourhood Centre and with the youth at the Karen Kain School of the Arts. Our last team is comprised of youth artists from the Native Canadian Centre, artist Rebecca Baird and vehicle owner CI art space. Art making sessions are just starting up for this last team. The theme will feature both Canadian landscape and the vibrant urban world in which we live.
For Year 3 we are still in the planning stages, but we are excited to say that we will be working with a new neighbour on the street -- Harold Tomlinson and the adults from the Creative Village Studio of Community Living Toronto.
